My name is Amanda Shapiro. I am from Bergen County, NJ and am a sophomore studying Sport Management at the University of Michigan. Sports have played a prominent role in my life starting at the age of eight when I attended my first Brooklyn Nets game. From then on, I have aspired to work in the NBA.

 

Currently, I am a Social Media and Marketing Intern for SLAM, a magazine combining basketball with hip hop culture. I am also a content creator for Brooklyn Netcast, a popular Twitter page connecting with the Brooklyn Nets community. On campus, I am the External Events Chair in Michigan Women Empowerment in Sport and Entertainment.

This past semester, I was a basketball marketing operations intern for Cut Agency, focusing on college and professional basketball, as well as a social media manager for a local non-profit organization in Ann Arbor helping special needs children and low-income families.

My career aspirations are to be a social media manager or sports broadcaster for the NBA. However, my passion for basketball expands to all levels, including high school, collegiate, and women's basketball.
